Catapult

A catapult is a mechanical device that was widely used in ancient and medieval times to launch projectiles over long distances. This device typically consisted of a sturdy frame with an arm or lever that was pulled back and released to propel the projectile forward. The energy stored in the tensioned arm was transferred to the projectile, propelling it through the air. Catapults were used extensively in warfare for besieging fortifications, as they allowed attackers to hurl stones, rocks, or other objects at enemy defenses. This mechanical device was an important tool in ancient and medieval warfare, and its use has been documented in numerous historical accounts. Today, catapults are still used for educational and recreational purposes.
